Lipemia; hemolysis; bacterial contamination
Establish the diagnosis of infection due to Rickettsia in the spotted fever group
The antigen used in the test is group specific and not species specific. Interference has been reported with this assay in patients suffering from Ehrlichia infections and Lyme disease.
Enzyme immunoassay (EIA) with indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) titer on positives
If result is positive or equivocal, IFA titers will be performed at no additional charge. Reference interval for titer reflex:
• Negative: <1:64
• Positive: 1:64
• Recent/active: >1:64
