Ethyl Glucuronide/Ethyl Sulfate (EtG/EtS), Screen and Confirmation, Urine
Detect ingestion of ethanol.
This test was developed, and its performance characteristics determined, by LabCorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Initial testing by immunoassay (IA); confirmation of positives by mass spectrometry (MS)
Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) is a direct metabolite of ethanol, which is formed by enzymatic conjugation of ethanol with glucuronic acid. Alcohol in the urine is normally detected for only a few hours versus several days for EtG. EtG, therefore, can be used to monitor compliance programs for abstinence from alcohol.
10 mL (Note: This volume does not allow for repeat testing.)
Urine temperature monitoring is recommended for samples tested for medicolegal purposes.
Maintain specimen at room temperature. If arrival at lab will extend beyond three days, refrigerate.
