Ted Johnson

Co-Discipline Director, Specimen Quality, Labcorp

Ted Johnson, an Associate Vice President for the Corporate Supply Chain Operations department representing Pre-Analytical Systems, attended South Florida Junior College in Sebring, FL (now South Florida State College). Ted began his medical career in Florida working for Southern Medical and Pharmaceutical Corporation as a phlebotomist in a 120 bed double plasmapheresis center. Ted accepted a position in Burlington, NC, as a hematology technician in 1982 with Biomedical Reference Laboratory, the predecessor to Laboratory Corporation of America. His first 15 years were spent in the laboratory working and managing in hematology, automated chemistry, manual chemistry, logistics, products and specimen processing departments in Burlington and the Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology in Research Triangle Park, while the next 18 years were spent in the Corporate Operations department as a project director. Now a 40-year employee at Labcorp, his current role as Specimen Quality Discipline Director is from an operations perspective.
