Helicobacter pylori Antibodies, IgA, IgG, IgM
- Anti-Campylobacter Antibodies
- Anti-H pylori Antibodies
Aid in the diagnosis of acute and chronic H pylori infections in patients with gastric and duodenal disease. Current studies suggest that H pylori IgM testing should be performed concomitantly with H pylori IgA and/or IgG tests for accurate diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection.
This test was developed, and its performance characteristics determined, by LabCorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Results of this test are for investigational purposes only. The results should not be used as a diagnostic procedure without confirmation of the diagnosis by another medically diagnostic product or procedure.
H pylori IgA and IgM: enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA); H pylori IgG: chemiluminescence
See individual tests.
Circulating antibodies to H pylori are predominantly of the IgG class. A systemic response of the IgA type is usually less pronounced but if significant, may indicate an early infection. Antibodies to IgG are the most useful for monitoring treatment.
Causes for Rejection
Heat inactivated serum; hemolysis; lipemia; gross bacterial contamination
