Dr Heim is currently a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics. She is certified by the New York State Department of Health as a director of genetic testing (molecular) and molecular and cellular tumor markers. Dr Heim graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, with a First Class BSc(Hons) degree and a PhD in human molecular genetics. She completed postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical molecular genetics at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
