Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.
Gray-top (NaF/oxalate) tube, green-top (heparin) tube, or lavender-top (EDTA) tube
Submission/transport (<3 days): Room temperature. For storage beyond three days, specimen should be refrigerated or frozen.
Detect use of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), a psychoactive drug
Initial presumptive testing by liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS); presumptive positives confirmed to limit of quantitation by definitive gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS)
