Test Details

Methodology

The HDV RNA quantitative assay is an in vitro reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) laboratory developed test for the quantification of HDV RNA from human serum or EDTA-plasma.

Result Turnaround Time

4 - 7 days

Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.

Use

This assay is used to determine the number of international units (IU) of hepatitis D virus (HDV) RNA per milliliter in serum or plasma in known HDV-positive patients.
