Test Details


Use

Used as an aid in the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in conjunction with other laboratory and clinical findings.


Limitations

Certain drugs, including procainamide and hydralazine, may induce a lupus erythematosus-like disease. Patients with drug-induced LE may demonstrate ANA commonly directed against nuclear histones, although antibody to dsDNA has also been reported.
