Dr. Robert G Best achieved his PhD in Genetics and Toxicology from North Carolina State University in Raleigh North Carolina in 1987 and achieved dual Board certification in PhD Medical Genetics and Clinical Cytogenetics in 1990 through the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics with LGG certification in 2023. Dr. Best is a Founding Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics & Genomics where he previously served in the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer (2022-23). Dr. Best directed the regional genetics center in Columbia, South Carolina for 27 years, serving as a primary faculty member for the Masters degree program in Genetic Counseling. Dr. Best also served as the founding Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development for the launch of a new medical school in Greenville South Carolina (2011-2021) and is recognized as a master medical educator within the University of South Carolina (USC) system. He is currently Distinguished Professor Emeritus in Medical Genetics for USC, and Senior Clinical Laboratory Director for the Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology and Discipline Director for Cytogenetics at Labcorp.
