Jen Sutton Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing, Labcorp
Evvy’s mission is to bring modern sequencing technology, real-world data, and patient-centered care together to radically improve women’s health outcomes.
Origination of innovation
Jen Sutton: Tell us the founding story of Evvy and its mission. What inspired you to start this company?
Priyanka Jain: We started Evvy because we believe the female body shouldn't be a medical mystery. Women weren't required to be included in U.S. clinical research until 1993 and to this day, we’re diagnosed on average four years later than men across 770 of the same diseases.
My co-founders and I started Evvy to close this gender health gap through underleveraged female biomarkers, starting with the vaginal microbiome. The vaginal microbiome is foundational to women's health, sitting at the intersection of vaginal discomfort—a leading reason women seek care—and reproductive tract inflammation.
It influences patient outcomes across:
- Fertility
- Preterm birth
- Menopause
- Gynecologic cancers, and more
Despite its importance, the vaginal microbiome isn’t a standard part of women’s healthcare today. We saw an opportunity to bring modern sequencing technology, real-world data, and patient-centered care together to radically improve outcomes and give women the healthcare experiences we deserve.
Jen Sutton: What specific problems in the healthcare system does Evvy address?
Priyanka Jain: Vaginal discomfort and its associated standard of care leaves women with greater than 60% misdiagnosis and an over 50% recurrence rate. That's unacceptable.
Additionally, dysbiosis of the vaginal microbiome contributes to inflammation of the reproductive tract, impacting outcomes across the lifespan. Approximately 30% of women have a dysbiotic vaginal microbiome and up to 80% are asymptomatic.
These imbalances can increase the risk of infertility, preterm birth, gynecological cancer progression, and more. With comprehensive vaginal microbiome testing and personalized care pathways, we can address these modifiable factors and significantly improve health outcomes across the female lifespan.
New technology in healthcare
Jen Sutton: Can you describe your innovative solution and how it works in practice?
Priyanka Jain: Evvy is the world's first and only precision vaginal healthcare platform, combining CLIA-, CAP-, and CLEP-certified metagenomic testing, precision prescription treatments, and one-on-one coaching to deliver truly personalized care.
Powered by a proprietary metagenomics assay, Evvy's Vaginal Health Test, validated in a peer-reviewed publication in Diagnostics, identifies over 700 bacteria and fungi in a single at-home swab, uncovering potential root causes of vaginal symptoms or fertility concerns that traditional testing often misses. Evvy's test is clinician-ordered, and all results are clinician-reviewed.
After testing, eligible users can order a personalized, integrative prescription treatment program. These programs can include:
- Prescription medications
- Symptom relief products
- One-on-one coaching
- Custom-formulated prescription supplements
Every treatment pathway is designed to restore balance—not just eliminate harmful microbes—so patients can experience lasting improvement instead of repeat cycles of care.
Jen Sutton: What makes your solution unique compared to existing alternatives?
Priyanka Jain: Our precision care platform uniquely takes into account the whole patient—from comprehensive test results to health history—to design a personalized, effective treatment program. The treatment programs are integrative, including both prescription medication and research-backed supplements so we don't just fight the disruptive microbes but regrow the protective ones to prevent future infections.
A peer-reviewed publication on more than 1,000 real-world patients showcased the power of our care platform, which drove:
- 75% symptom resolution
- 50% reduction in recurrence
- Significant microbiome restoration
Through our platform, we’ve built the world's largest and most comprehensive dataset on the vaginal microbiome and discovered double the number of genomes that had been previously documented. Not only does this data power personalized care, but it will also unlock the next generation of diagnostics for infertility, sexually transmitted infections, preterm birth, and more.
Beyond the science, we also show up differently for patients by building a deeply engaged community through:
- Transparent education
- Destigmatizing content
- Human-centered support
Millions of people have engaged with Evvy’s educational content, helping normalize conversations around vaginal health and empowering patients to advocate for better care.
Jen Sutton: What technologies do you use, and how do you ensure reliability and accuracy?
Priyanka Jain: Our core technology is shotgun metagenomic sequencing, paired with a proprietary bioinformatics pipeline designed specifically for vaginal samples. Our peer-reviewed test validation showed industry-leading accuracy, and our assay is approved for clinical use in all 50 states through CLIA/CAP certification and CLEP approval.
We also pair molecular data with longitudinal patient-reported outcomes, which allows us to understand not just what's present but how microbiomes change over time and in response to interventions. The peer-reviewed publication also showed improved patient outcomes across symptom resolution, recurrence rates, and microbiome restoration.
How technological innovation enhanced patient access, convenience, and care
Jen Sutton: How has your solution improved patient care or operational efficiency in health systems?
Priyanka Jain: Evvy has improved patient care by:
- Reducing diagnostic uncertainty
- Shortening time-to-appropriate care
- Decreasing unnecessary repeat treatments
For patients who’ve cycled through multiple providers without answers, Evvy often becomes the first experience where their symptoms are taken seriously, explained biologically, and solved based on the root cause. Patients consistently tell us they were finally able to solve their problems because of Evvy, often after years of frustration navigating the traditional healthcare system without clear answers or effective solutions.
Many emphasize the value of finally understanding their bodies and having access to empathetic, expert guidance alongside their results. One patient shared:
Evvy actually saved my life...The detailed results, cutting-edge information, and support from their counselors gave me hope for the first time in years. Knowledge is truly power, and support makes the difference.
For providers and health systems, this means:
- Fewer repeat visits
- Less trial-and-error prescribing
- More confidence in treatment decisions
By addressing root causes earlier, we help improve outcomes while reducing avoidable utilization and downstream costs.
Jen Sutton: What metrics do you use to measure the success and effectiveness of your solution?
Priyanka Jain: We track improvements in patient outcomes post-test results and post-care. Our comprehensive approach to measurement includes both clinical and experiential metrics.
We gather feedback through:
- In-platform surveys
- Post-test questionnaires
- One-on-one coaching sessions
- Ongoing community engagement across our digital channels
This allows us to continuously improve both our technology and the care experience while capturing how patients feel throughout their journey. Most importantly, we see powerful outcomes reflected both in our data and in patient stories. Patients routinely tell us that Evvy helped solve health problems they had struggled with for a decade or longer. One patient shared:
After 10 years of struggling with symptoms, this is the first time I’ve truly felt confident in my body.” Another told us, “After eight failed IVF cycles, I am currently 25 weeks pregnant. I give 99% of the credit to Evvy.
These stories underscore what’s possible when better data leads to better care.
The future of innovation in healthcare
Jen Sutton: What are your plans for future innovations or improvements to your current solution?
Priyanka Jain: Evvy's next chapter is focused on using our vaginal microbiome dataset to redefine how we understand women's health more broadly. In 2026, we’ll publish our study on fertility, leveraging Evvy's Vaginal Microbiome Test in the setting of in vitro fertilization, with the goal of identifying the specific microbial biomarkers that predict success and failure.
By building a new standard of care—one grounded in female biology, not male defaults—Evvy is helping establish a next generation of medicine finally built for women. We're committed to expanding our precision care approach to address additional women's health challenges beyond vaginal health.
We’re also expanding our reach through deeper partnerships with clinicians, fertility practices, OB/GYNs, and research institutions worldwide to integrate microbiome insights directly into care pathways.
Jen Sutton: How do you plan to expand your reach and impact in the healthcare sector?
Priyanka Jain: We have many exciting collaborations across the vaginal health, fertility, and research spheres that will help us scale our impact and bring precision care to more women who need it. Partnerships—particularly with diagnostics leaders, health systems, consumer healthcare companies, health systems, and research institutions—are critical to expanding access, accelerating discovery, and translating insights into real-world care.
Together, we can build a healthcare system that finally works for women.
