Sharon has 17 years of experience as a medical science liaison (MSL) for Labcorp and Monogram Biosciences and has participated in the launch of more than 10 novel assays in HIV and hepatitis C. Prior to joining Monogram Biosciences in 2006, she worked as an MSL in the pharmaceutical industry.
Sharon obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Subsequently, Sharon earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing at the University of Washington as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Following graduation Sharon worked in maternal-child health care, contributing to innovative programs to deliver health care to underserved populations. Sharon has been an HIV specialist at the University of Washington’s Harborview Medical Center HIV Specialty Clinic for 31 years, as well as a research coordinator and study clinician for Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials affiliated with University of Washington AIDS Clinical Trial Group. She has volunteered in Ethiopia and Burundi on several occasions providing education and support to clinicians in prevention of HIV transmission from mother to baby.
Sharon has done extensive public speaking in her roles as an MSL and clinician. She is known for her educational style promoting understanding of complex scientific concepts.
She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, national nursing honor society.
