Perry Chan, PhD, JD

Technical Director, Molecular

Dr. Chan is board certified in clinical molecular genetics and molecular diagnostics.  He is also ASCP-certified in microbiology, molecular pathology and laboratory management. Furthermore, he is an ASQ-certified quality auditor and quality manager. He continues to hold an active California law license and an USPTO patent attorney license. He received a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Hong Kong, a juris doctor degree from Concord Law School, and an MBA degree majoring in quality management from Loyola University at New Orleans.  He completed a clinical molecular genetics fellowship at Columbia University, New York and a post-doctoral fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  In addition to authoring a number of book chapters, Dr. Chan has authored more than 20 articles and abstracts for peer-reviewed journals.  Dr. Chan was a past director for American Board of Clinical Chemistry and a past CLSI committee member to revise NGS guidelines. Currently, he is selected to serve in the Social, Ethical and Legal Issues Committee of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics
