Laura Gillim is a Medical Science Liaison and Discipline Director for Infectious Diseases at Labcorp, where she provides scientific leadership, expert clinical consultation, and strategic guidance across the company’s infectious disease portfolio. She previously served as a Scientific Director in Labcorp’s Science & Technology organization and as the Technical Director for the Labcorp Denver regional laboratory, supporting technical operations, emerging test development, and advancements in diagnostic quality.

A former State Public Health Laboratory Director for Colorado, she has overseen complex, multidisciplinary laboratory programs—including microbiology, molecular diagnostics, environmental testing, newborn screening, and emergency preparedness—while ensuring rigorous compliance with federal and state regulatory standards.

Laura has extensive experience in emerging infectious disease research and diagnostics, with numerous peer reviewed publications and scientific abstracts. Her research background includes fellowships with the CDC/APHL Emerging Infectious Diseases Program at the Wadsworth Center, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the NIH, where she contributed to work in pandemic vaccine development, viral pathogenesis, and infectious disease immunology.

She holds a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Haverford College and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Laura is a board certified High Complexity Laboratory Director (ABB) and an active member of professional societies including the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM). She has served on CLSI document development committees for Lyme borreliosis and serology testing for infectious diseases and serves as a member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Microbiology Committee. Her additional areas of specialty include immunology, molecular biology, public leadership, laboratory stewardship, and the translation of emerging scientific evidence into actionable insights that advance patient care and public health.
