Labcorp has launched an expanded DPYD Genotype test to help identify cancer patients at risk for severe toxicity from fluoropyrimidine chemotherapies. The test is the first from a national laboratory to detect all Tier 1 and Tier 2 DPYD variants, enabling more comprehensive risk assessment and supporting safer treatment decisions.
In an interview with Inside Precision Medicine, Annette Taylor, Ph.D., M.S., associate vice president and strategic director of pharmacogenomics at Labcorp, said, “Pharmacogenomic testing is typically incorporated early in the treatment process, once a chemotherapy plan has been established, to give clinicians information about a patient’s inherited ability to metabolize certain medications or respond to them.”
