Evaluation of Autoimmune Encephalitis Antibody with Reflex to Titer
Negative results do not exclude autoimmune encephalopathy or cancer.
This test does not detect Ma1 or Ma2 antibodies (alias Mata), which are sometimes associated with brainstem and limbic encephalitis in context of testicular germ cell neoplasms.
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by Labcorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Cell-based Immunofluorescence (IFA)
The Encephalitis Antibody Panel provides an evaluation of possible autoantibodies in patients with suspected autoimmune encephalitis, and optimizes the liklihood of detecting neuronal specific autoantibodies, whether present singly or occurring as multiple autoantibodies.
