Special Instructions

For histopathology, order test 500918.

The attending physician may directly request the necessary material from the outside hospital or laboratory, or he or she may ask the pathology department to initiate the request. A copy of the outside pathological report should be enclosed with the slides.

Specimen Requirements


Specimen

Specimens that may require gross examination only include bone fragments from nonpathologic fractures, calculi, cartilage, cataracts, inorganic foreign bodies, intervertebral discs, meniscus, orthopedic hardware, plague, stapes, teeth, traumatic amputation specimens. Please state if submitting physician feels specimen should be microexamined.

Histology slides, cytology slides, or fixed tissue
