Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.

Pure culture of aerobic bacteria or facultatively anaerobic bacteria or a strict anaerobic bacteria
Volume
Viable colonies macroscopically visible
Container
Bacterial swab transport inoculated with the isolate from a pure culture or agar slant in screw-cap container packed as an etiologic agent. Maintain a subculture at the submitting laboratory.
Storage Instructions
Maintain isolate at room temperature.
Causes for Rejection
Unlabeled specimen or name discrepancy between specimen and test request label; broken tube; mixed culture
