Lavender-top (EDTA plasma) tube, red-top tube, or gel-barrier tube


Collection

Collect specimen in lavender-top (EDTA) tube, red-top tube, or gel-barrier tube. Centrifuge specimen within 24 hours of collection. Remove serum or plasma, transfer specimen to polypropylene screw-cap tube, and freeze. Ship frozen. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.

Use

Detection and quantitation of parvovirus in plasma or serum specimens as an aid in the diagnosis and management of parvovirus infections


Limitations

Quantitative range is 500−10,000,000 copies/mL.

This test was developed, and its performance characteristics determined, by ViroMed. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA has determined that such clearance or approval is not necessary.
