Laura Gillim, PhD

Medical Science Liaision, Infectious Disease

Dr. Gillim is Medical Science Liaision, Infectious Disease at Labcorp and a discipline director for infectious disease immunology. Dr. Gillim was previously a scientific director in the department of science and technology and technical director for the Labcorp Denver regional laboratory. Prior to joining Labcorp, Dr. Gillim served as the CLIA laboratory director for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), directing the activities of the state laboratory including environmental chemistry, radiochemistry, microbiology, molecular sciences, environmental microbiology, newborn screening, evidential breath alcohol testing, laboratory certification (medical labs, environmental labs, and marijuana testing facilities), and bioterrorism and chemical terrorism testing.

Dr. Gillim has extensive experience in infectious disease research and testing and has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts in various journals. She holds a BS in molecular and cellular biology from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and a PhD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She was a CDC/APHL emerging infectious diseases research fellow at the Wadsworth Center, New York Department of Health, and a research fellow in pandemic vaccine development at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which is part of the National Institute of Health (NIH). Dr Gillim is a member of and is a board-certified high complexity laboratory director through the American Board of Bioanalysis. She is a member of the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC).
