FAQs

  • How is the LabCorp enterprise responding to COVID-19?

Since the emergence of COVID-19, a new strain of coronavirus, we have been working across the diagnostics and drug development businesses to address and combat its global spread, in keeping with our mission to improve health and improve lives. We are uniquely positioned to serve people in the U.S. by providing coronavirus testing at scale through our diagnostics business, while we are working globally with biopharmaceutical companies to support their efforts to develop a treatment through our drug development business, Covance. • Are job interviews happening in-person or online?

We are committed to maintaining the health and safety of job candidates and our employees across the LabCorp enterprise. To protect our employees and members of our local communities, we are following COVID-19 healthcare guidelines by practicing “social distancing,” which means we are now conducting the vast majority of our interviews using phone and video conferencing. There are a limited number of roles and regions in which live interviews remain in place. Strict social distancing protocols will be followed during in-person interviews. These measures mean we will ask you to remain at least six feet away from any other persons, not shake hands or make any contact with other persons.

  • Are the positions you are hiring for required to work on site, in medical centers or in laboratories? May I work from home?
    • We have made the decision to strongly encourage all employees whose type of work and available setup accommodates working from home to do so until further notice. We recognize that our employees in positions that are not patient- or laboratory-facing are contributing to our overall healthy work environment by working from home, and of course, as local jurisdictions implement specific shelter-in-place guidelines, we are fully compliant with these guidelines.
    • For colleagues who handle specimens, we have launched enhanced precautions and protective practices in accordance with the World Health Organization and Center for Disease Control. LabCorp and our dedicated employees are intensely focused on performing testing for COVID-19 and increasing capacity to make testing available for patients who should be tested. We are deeply proud of everything our colleagues, especially those on the frontlines, have done to respond to this unprecedented crisis, and all that they will continue to do.
    • LabCorp’s patient service centers and other locations follow strict personal and environmental hygiene protocols, which have been further strengthened and reinforced with all employees since the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Prior to starting my new role, am I able to come on site to meet the team?

To ensure the health of our patients, employees, and the broader community, we are not allowing non-essential personnel, including applicants and those from external organizations, customers and vendors to visit our facilities at this time. We are confident that effective interviews can be accommodated via video-enabled solutions. We encourage you to ask additional questions during your interview regarding the team, culture and work environment to ensure you are able to make a confident decision.

  • What actions have been taken internally to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and “flatten the curve”?

We prioritize the health and well-being of our employees and their families, the patients and customers we serve, and the communities in which we live and work. We recognize that the situation is evolving and have already taken several proactive steps to mitigate risk while maintaining business continuity, including:

    • Adherence to government-imposed travel restrictions and recommendations for all countries in which we operate
    • Creation of a decision matrix for determining essential travel
    • Providing flexible work arrangements, where appropriate, that maximize work execution
    • Conducting the vast majority of our interviews via phone and video conferencing, as well as managing onboarding processes remotely
  • If I am required to work on site, what can I expect?

To ensure you stay safe in your work environment from Day 1, we are actively working to minimize the spread of COVID-19. If your role requires you to work onsite, you may be asked:

    • Do you have a high temperature?
    • Do you have a new, continuous cough or shortness of breath unrelated to a pre-existing respiratory illness such as asthma or allergies?
    • Have you had any loss or change to your sense of smell or taste?

We have also implemented site-specific safety measures, such as:

    • Employing a weekly hydrostatic mist to disinfect public areas, conference rooms, offices, desk areas and locker rooms
    • Using hospital-grade disinfectants and increasing the frequency of cleaning for commonly touched surfaces
    • Reducing seating density and suspending self-service stations in cafeterias, encouraging all patrons to use a hand sanitizing station prior to entering cafeterias, providing personal protective equipment for all cafeteria staff, and supporting an exhaustive and frequent sanitizing process for all cafeteria areas

These screening and safety measures are designed to protect you, your colleagues, our clients and the patients we support.
