General Information

LabCorp's DNA Identification Testing Division maintains all necessary licenses and accreditation from:

  • American Association of Blood Banks
  • American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics
  • College of American Pathologists
  • and others

WHO must be tested to establish paternity?

Routinely - mother, child and alleged father

Non-Routine Cases

  • alleged father and child only
  • family studies including sibling relationships
  • specimens from deceased individuals
  • amniotic fluid testing
  • related, multiple alleged fathers

What is the COST of a paternity test?

$210 per person when mother, child and alleged father are tested (includes specimen collection)

Additional fee for STAT testing (5 working (M-F) days) $200 per person

Are there any HIDDEN charges (for., specimen collection and buccal swab specimens)?

No, the fees stated above include all costs associated with routine buccal swab specimen collection and testing costs. Certain additional fees may be charged for expert witness services and other items in accordance with the LabCorp fee schedule.

WHERE do I go for specimen collection?

LabCorp's DNA Identification Testing Division utilizes thousands of collection facilities throughout the United States. Upon account set-up, LabCorp will identify the facility nearest to your location and make all specimen collection arrangements.

What types of PAYMENT are accepted?

  • Cashier's check (payable to LabCorp)
  • Money order (payable to LabCorp)
  • Attorney's trust account check (payable to LabCorp)
  • VISA
  • Mastercard
  • Discover

We cannot accept personal checks or checks written on credit card accounts. We do not bill insurance companies.

HOW is a paternity test scheduled?

  1. Complete the Paternity Testing Information Package. (The Consent and Indemnity Agreement must be signed by the child's legal guardian if the mother is not tested.) You may also call 800-742-3944.
  2. PAYMENT

    If paying by check or money order, enclose payment and forms and mail to:

    If paying by credit card you may mail forms to the above address, or fax to 800-821-9102

  3. LabCorp will schedule appointments for specimen collection and you will be notified via telephone or FAX of the date, time and location.
  4. Upon receipt of all required specimens, LabCorp will perform DNA testing.
  5. Results will be reviewed by one of LabCorp's Identity Testing Division directors. To ensure your privacy, results are not made available by telephone.
  6. RESULTS: The report will state, if appropriate, that the disputed parent is excluded in multiple DNA systems. If not excluded a probability of parentage or other appropriate conclusion will be reported.
