Acquired Causes of Venous Thrombosis

The incidence of venous thrombosis increases dramatically with age. The rate of occurrence changes from approximately one per 100,000 individuals younger than 40 years of age to one per 1000 individuals older than 75.12 A number of acquired conditions that are associated with an increased risk of thrombosis have been identified. They are listed in Table 3.15
